May & Bakers v North Romford 16/10/2005

May & Baker won 7-0!
What can I say?
There was no match to speak about on Sunday, as only one team played, so there will be no comical match report this week. My thoughts about the game are summed up below.
We played shite, they were not much better.
We were 4-0 down at half time, all of which were our fault.
We ended up losing 7-0, all of which were our fault.
Not one of the team played well, although Ross did try hard.
Team: All shit (including subs) Brown, Hollamby, Cordell, Rabey, Alan Vint, Richards, Wadsworth, Neville, Sutton, Parmenter, Clifton. (subs, Ricky, Johnson, Jordan Vint)
Report by Kev Parmenter (who quite thankfully did not have his video camera there)
(editor)
North Romford fell behind very early on but did have a couple of chances to hit back. One hit the woodwork another was pushed onto the woodwork and you do have to wonder had they gone in it could have been a different game, but they didnt and it wasnt.
All in all a poor performance from everyone (bar Clifton) that must leave a bitter taste in the mouth with a two week break upon us. One thing is for sure, when the team next meet up they will be looking for a lot more from their so called bigger players!

Why did you stop Stu? Your more then able to push some of the boys in this team for a place.
Boys,
I held my hands up and said sorry to the gaffa after the game and do the same to you all now.
I was quite honestly fucked!
I have never played football feeling worse then that and it clearly showed in my lack of running talking and all round botheredness.
I was a disgrace, i am bothered about it, and owe you a much better display next time round!!!

if anything we know what they are like as a team... we know we can beat them when we all perform so when we play them at central we will beat them... there was nothing special about them.

It just was not the sort of game that anyone should take praise from mate.
You boys made some important last ditch tackles and clearences off the line, and to be fair there were other things that probably would have been mentioned had the performance been different.

I think you should all be a little bit more concerned about the spirit in the camp, as opposed to individual performances.
NRFC has always been a club that enjoyed themselves, irrespective of results and success. It appears to me that as more and more of the old team have stopped playing, the spirit of the side has been lost.
The mentality that we are going to win the league, cup and any other tournament is not healthy and is unrealistic, and is not why the side was formed initially.
If you all start to concentrate on taking things a bit less seriously, and realise it is only Sunday football then your results might improve.
The attitude from the first 2 games up to this game is completely different, and I can honestly say it wasn't pleasant to watch.

Boys,
Last Sunday was embarassing and pathetic all round and nobody has been more embarassed with their performances over the past weeks than myself. However, there are good things to focus on from the end of last season and the beginning of this, and that is what we should be focusing on during these two weeks off. I personally will be taking myself down the gym a few times before the Lonsdale game. I agree with Puffin's last comment...we should perhaps focus more on drinking after the game on a Sunday, win, lose or draw than on the Saturday night beforehand...and that can be said for all of us. So lets forget last Sunday (take the match report down even? a bit depressing seeing that everytime we log on) and lets be positive for the next game.

P.S how many times do I wanna say the word 'focus'?

For anyone who wasn't on my e-mail earlier, Mark Parmenter has officially retired from football. He will be spending more time with his ever-growing family.
He wishes you all the best for the season, as he is unlikely to be coming over to watch any games.
For the record, he is NRFC's all-time leading scorer and leaves a legacy of great goals, misses and a fair few tear-ups!

Isn't it a bit early in the season for the "Mark Parmenter in retirement" shocker . If it's true this time, then I take my hat off to him for all his champagne moments - apart from the one where he scored a hat-trick in the last game of the season (1992 ish?) to take the top scorer trophy out of my hands. We still lost 6-3 after leading 3-0 at the break....
